Prologue: A Writer's Journey
From document to paperback
This has something I've been warring with myself about starting for a long time, but I think it's time to rip off the bandage.
I keep taking myself out of it because here I am, utilizing so much information that I've gathered from all the weird corners and collections of the internet and believing that everyone else has surely done or had access to the same stuff. But I still surprise my friends and mutuals with neat tips and tricks that I'm thanked for, so why not—why shouldn't I write more about it?
So here we go...
I'm going to walk all of you through my process and findings with the hope that it'll help you—either an aspiring or current author—in any part of the publishing journey. As someone who has considered traditional (trad) publishing, decided on self-publishing, and am still toying with the idea of hybrid, I've done a severely special-interest level of research (and still continue to do so).
And I want to cover everything. Or, well, as much as humanly possible haha.
Got questions about how to get started? What word processor to use? What information you need to write up your query or set up pre-orders for your books?
I'm going to try to help walk you through the process and weigh the pros and cons of trad vs indie publishing so you can make a more informed and prepared decision.
As a bit of a bonus, and a way in which you can support me writing all of this madness, I'm building out a Notion template that breaks down writing progress, world building, character information, publishing metadata, and more. I'm not sure on a price yet, but I'm putting a lot of work into trying to organize everything to dish it out.
